Galloway Johnson | Amusements, Sports & Recreation Litigation Law Firm

We are privileged to represent theme parks, carnivals, ice skating rinks, roller skating rinks, fitness centers, gymnastics centers, bowling centers, sports organizations, fairs & festivals, and their insurers. We also work with business and industry leaders concerning water parks, product manufacturers and inflatable attractions.

Our amusement, sports and recreation cases have involved claims of premises defects, inadequate security and crowd management, inadequate supervision, products liability, inadequate maintenance, spectator liability and negligent operations.

Several of our directors are actively involved in the International Amusement and Leisure Defense Association www.ialda.org, an association of operators, defense counsel, insurance professionals, experts and others actively engaged in representing the interests of the amusement, recreation, sports & leisure industries. Lambert J. Hassinger, Jr. is an IALDA board member and he served as president of IALDA for the 2010-2012 term.

Industry standards play a critical role in the success of this industry. As such, Galloway Johnson counsel are active in the American Society for Testing and Materials. We currently serve on two ASTM committees - F24 (Amusement Rides & Devices) & F08 (Sports Equipment and Facilities).

We proactively seek ways to add value to our client relationships. One way we do so for the industries and clients we represent is by presenting educational seminars as part of employee training programs and at industry conferences, presenting seminars for insurance carriers and their insureds, and publishing articles and risk management guidelines. Covered topics include litigation trends, insurance coverage, indemnity, implementing and maintaining a culture of safety, incident investigation, substantive areas of law, risk management, mock trials, trial practice, depositions, government regulation and industry standards.

We work with and support industry leaders such as the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA), World Waterpark Association (WWA), Amusement Industry Manufacturers and Suppliers (AIMS), International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association (IHRSA), Roller Skating Association International (RSA) and the Bowling Proprietors Association of America (BPAA). We also participate in local events such as the Tulane University National Baseball Arbitration Competition and the Mardi Gras National Sports Law Competition.
